Film Story

During the Late Bronze Age Cyprus was a prominent actor in the maintenance of the economic and political networks that had been established in the Eastern Mediterranean and the Near East between kingdoms and empires. This was achieved because of the island’s ability to produce and export large quantities of copper abroad which, in turn, acted as a catalyst for its prosperity and sociopolitical evolution. We follow the copper trade routes from Cyprus to many places in Greece, Israel, Egypt, Italy, France, Turkey, Syria and Bulgaria where the archaeologists discovered large quantities of copper ingots that were exported from Cyprus during the Late Bronze Age. The Cyprus copper trade was achieved because of the island’s  ability to produce and export large quantities of copper abroad which, in turn, acted as a catalyst for its prosperity and sociopolitical evolution. In each episode we learn about the history and civilisation of a different empire and kingdom that existed in the Eastern Mediterranean and the Near East during the Late Bronze Age.
